Where are you from?
I'm from the capital of Minas Gerais, a state in the Southeast region of Brazil known for its rich history, cuisine, diverse cultures, and landscapes.
How long have you been tattooing?
I've been tattooing for 12 years.
What inspired you to become a tattoo artist?
I have loved art and drawing since I was a child! As long as I can remember I was drawing everywhere. I discovered tattooing in 2013 at college when a friend who was already a tattoo artist invited me to do it. That year was a whirlwind I had left my old job; my mother had passed away and I needed to find some new work. He told me that I would be welcome to help in his studio, that I could learn with them and that he saw a future on me because I was good at drawing.
Back then honestly, I didn't really care much about tattoos (I might even have thought it was some sort of blasphemy or somethings), but I ended up accepting. I asked to see a tattoo being done, and after that, everything changed. I thought it was magical how he could drew a line and the line looked perfect and stayed permanently on the skin, after that I was determined to start my apprenticeship right away.
For me is mad to think of it because before all this, all I wanted is to become a musician, but I ended up going to art school thinking I was going to be a canvas painter, at the end I became a skin painter.
What is your background?
I graduated in fine arts with a specialization in drawing and painting from The Guignard University, a local modern art college. Good old days 😂.
What style do you specialise in?
I tattooed for a long time in the realism and blackwork styles until I got to the style I have today, which I consider more my own style rather than realistic.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I really love rock climbing and just be in the nature. Climbing is actually a big part of my life. I’m still looking to evolve my work, seeking new creations, techniques, and concepts.
What’s your favourite kind of tattoo to do?
At the moment I’m really enjoying creating oneiric, dreamlike playful surreal black and white compositions with a figurative theme or meaning with a slightly geometrical touch.
What’s the coolest tattoo you’ve done?
Every piece for me is special and if I had to choose the coolest piece I did, is hard, I don’t think I couldn’t pick one.
