Questions & answers

Where are you from? I am from Johannesburg, South Africa.
How long have you been tattooing? I have been tattooing professionally for about 11 years since 2013.
What inspired you to become a tattoo artist? It’s something I have been interested in since a young age and as I got older I got involved in Punk Rock and Skating and the interest just magnified from there. After I got my first tattoo I was sold and just knew it was something I had to pursue.
What is your background? I studied animation for a year and a half then left to pursue tattooing full-time. I studied art privately with one of South Africa’s Dutch masters where I learnt a lot.
What style do you specialise in? I specialise in abstract realism and surrealism with a touch of pop art or graffiti added in.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I enjoy painting, gaming, hiking and travelling to new places in my spare time. Also spending time with my two cat children is a must and brings me peace.
What’s your favourite kind of tattoo to do? I really enjoy any tattoo that I’m given the freedom to create in my own style and put my personality into. It means a lot when a client gives you full trust.
What’s the coolest tattoo you’ve done? I would have to say that one of my favourite tattoos to date is the lady face piece with the large juicy mouth on her forehead and half-translucent hand done in opaques and yellows with a touch of rust. I really enjoy the scale of it and its placement as it allowed me to really mess around with composition. The colour balance is something I also really enjoyed as it kind of kicked off my use of those colours.
